This Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa review covers our honest opinion of this 5-star beach resort in a quieter area of Rayong, after our week spent here.
We love living in Thailand for many reasons, and although Bangkok has all the hustle and bustle you could ask for, nothing beats relaxation time. Not too far from Bangkok is Rayong, a coastal province known for its scenic coastline and clear beaches. It is a charming destination and the Rayong marriott Resort & Spa is a great choice for couples and families alike.
Let’s take a closer look at this picturesque resort.
Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa review

Location
Situated in Klaeng District, Rayong Province, Thailand, the resort occupies beachfront grounds on Wang Kaew Beach. The address is approximately 98–99 Moo 2, Pae‑Klaeng‑Kram Road, Chakpong, Klaeng.
Nestled on Thailand’s east coast, it’s ideal for a tranquil getaway, with Koh Samet and Koh Mun easily reached from Rayong, ideal for day trips.

How to Get There
The nearest airport is U‑Tapao–Rayong–Pattaya International Airport, about 60 km away—roughly a 1‑hour drive
From Rayong city, it’s a 30-minute drive. Parking is available and the journey from Bangkok takes approximately 2 hours 45 minutes.
Guest transport to Ban Phe pier is available if you wish to take boats to Koh Samet
The property is somewhat remote, so hiring a car or using hotel-arranged transport is most practical.

Rooms
Rooms range from Deluxe and Premier ocean‑view rooms to spacious One‑Bedroom Suites, some with private pools; perfect for those looking for the more romantic things to do in Thailand.
They include floor‑to‑ceiling windows, private balconies, marble bathrooms with soaking tubs and rain‑showers, workspaces, minibar, and free Wi‑Fi. We were impressed with the quality of the room, it is well looked after, with modern amenities.
You can book sea view rooms but we actually loved our Mountain View room in our Deluxe room.

Prices
Typical starting rates appear around £60–120 / US $80–150 per night (rates fluctuate seasonally), however, deals can be found during the off-season or when booked directly on the Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa website.
Our stay included breakfast and we often ate lunch and dinner at the various restaurants located in the hotel; see below for more details. Prices for the food is fair for a 5-star hotel in Thailand but you can definitely save money by walking or driving to the nearby local restaurants and bars.

Staff
The staff were friendly and helpful here but at times, the place felt a little understaffed. For context, we stayed in the Summer of 2022, so tourists were slowly returning to Thailand after the pandemic. This could have had some impact on our stay, as there were very few visitors here other than over the weekend.
There were plenty of staff to keep the place running smoothly and clean but there were times where we would have to wait for a bartender to arrive at the beach bar etc.

Dining Options
A total of five on-site dining venues and we enjoyed each of them:
- C‑Salt Café – all‑day international cuisine and buffet breakfast with Gulf views. They have a varied breakfast from western and bakery options to Thai and Chinese. Calum particularly enjoyed the dim sum and I loved the omelette station and fresh waffle stand.
- Fish Bar – beachfront seafood grill with open kitchen and sunset cocktails but only open on weekends during our visit.
- Java+ – grab‑and‑go bakery café for pastries and coffee; really good coffee and a great place for a light snack or lunch.
- The Lounge – upscale bar with premium spirits, coffee, and snacks, again check opening hours for this.
- Water Bar – relaxed spot for juices, Thai/Western small plates available.
- Plus Beach Bar beside the pool serving cocktails, tapas, sunset views
Room service is also available from C-Salt Cafe, with a variety of Thai and western options. Portions are large and affordable; I loved their fish and chips!

Facilities
Facilities are fair, ideal for vacations but not a popular choice for business travellers. You can expect:
- Three outdoor pools: a main lagoon pool with aquatic-themed aquarium wall (including baby sharks), a quiet adults‑only pool near Fish Bar, and a kids’ Raindance pool with slide.
- Private beach area with loungers and water sports rentals (kayaking, snorkelling)
- Fitness centre, game room, weekly activity programme (yoga, table tennis, bike tours)
- Quan Spa with eight treatment rooms, massage, sauna, wellness services open daily from mid‑day to 10 pm
- A business centre/meeting space, convenience store, bicycle rental, kids’ club, laundry, and valet services.

Overall thoughts
Overall, we enjoyed our stay here at the Rayong Marriott Resort & Spa and plan to return in the future. The resort, pool and beach was spacious, and visiting here in august meant that it was fairly quiet. We often had the pool and beach to ourselves.
The menus are varied, giving plenty of options for visitors both local and international visitors. The hotel offers a beach-front getaway at reasonable prices, making for a great weekend break from Bangkok.
The location means you will likely need a car to see nearby sights and if you are here to explore Rayong itself, then perhaps a hotel nearer to the city is a better options.
